Why I Started Ingot Capital

“I didn’t get into this industry because I thought it would be a good career. I got into it because I lived what happens when a family isn’t prepared.”

It started with my grandfather. When he passed away, nothing was set up — no plan, no policy, no clear direction for the family. What should have been a time to grieve turned into years of confusion and financial stress. His estate got stuck in probate for five years. Five years of court dates, paperwork, and waiting. My family had to borrow money just to pay for the funeral, and even more to cover the lawyers who were supposed to help us sort it all out.

By the time the estate was finally settled, the damage was already done. Not just financially — but emotionally. Watching my family go through that kind of hardship during what was already the worst time of their lives opened my eyes to something I couldn’t unsee: most families aren’t prepared. And when the worst day comes, that lack of preparation makes everything harder.

I carried that lesson with me, but I didn’t act on it right away. Life moved on. Then my father passed.

The funeral cost $10,000 — and that was for the most basic cremation available. I didn’t have the funds. No savings set aside, no policy to fall back on. So I did what a lot of people in that situation end up doing: I went to a loan shark. I borrowed the money at terms I couldn’t afford, and by the time I was done paying it back, that $10,000 funeral had cost me over $13,000. On top of that, settling my father’s affairs took over a year and more than $20,000 in legal fees. Money I didn’t have. Stress I didn’t need. All during a time when I should have been focused on my family and healing.

That was the moment everything changed for me.

I started Ingot Capital Insurance because no family should have to go through what mine went through — twice. I’ve sat on the other side of that table. I know what it feels like to lose someone you love and then have to figure out how to pay for it. I know what it’s like to make desperate financial decisions during the worst week of your life. And I know that a simple conversation and the right coverage could have changed everything.

That’s why I do this. Not to sell policies — but to make sure that when one of the worst days of your life comes, your family is prepared, protected, and never has to choose between grieving and surviving. That’s the promise behind every conversation I have.
